Our Love Story with Italy

The story of Vietri is, in essence, a love affair with Italy. During their inaugural trip to the country in 1983, Susan, Frances, and their mother, Lee Gravely, were captivated by the vibrant Italian culture. Their stay at the San Pietro Hotel in Positano led them to discover the hotel’s handcrafted dinnerware, igniting a passion within them. The very next day, they arranged a visit to a nearby ceramic factory in the charming town of Vietri sul Mare. Watching skilled artisans meticulously paint, glaze, and fire each piece by hand inspired the Gravelys to share the treasures they had found. They returned home with a wondrous selection of nature-inspired pieces, later identified as Campagna, Vietri's flagship dinnerware collection. Each Campagna dish is lovingly hand-painted by skilled artisans, drawing inspiration from the breathtaking colors of the famous Amalfi Coast.
